Edition 1925 Principia Mathematica. WHITEHEAD, Alfred North, & Bertrand Russell.
3 volumes, octavo. Original publisher's dark blue cloth, spines lettered in gilt, cream endpapers. A little very light rubbing to extremities, an excellent set. Ownership inscriptions dated December 1932 on front free endpapers. Second edition. The first edition of Principia mathematica, the greatest single contribution to symbolic logic for the time, appeared in 1910–13 in a lopsided publication: 750 copies of the first volume in 1910; only 500 each of the later two volumes. The revisions and additions of the second edition, introducing a new system of logic influenced by both Wittgenstein and Frank Ramsey, were produced solely by Russell. The set has become harder to find complete as first volumes from it are often pilfered to make up defective sets of the first edition. Blackwell & Ruja A9.2a. N° de réf. du libraire 74366
